For additional information go to: http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/marinavillagemiddleschoolMarina’s Holiday Book Fair will be held November 30-December 4, from 7:30-3:00pm. Our "Family Event" will be held on Wednesday, December 2nd from 5:30-8:00pm. Everyone is invited to share in this celebration of books and reading! Not only will our Book Fair help raise funds to purchase essential library and classroom resources, it encourages reading among our students.
As students grow older, it is so important to keep books in their lives. Students who remain readers now are more likely to be lifelong learners. Middle School students need to be surrounded by a book-rich environment with encouragement to read at school and home. Reading helps build vocabulary and comprehension by exposing them to a wide and diverse collection of genres and subject areas such as science fiction, mysteries and non-fiction. It is important to spark a child's interest so that they commit the time and effort to become better readers enabling them to achieve a well-rounded and successful future.
Top Five Reasons not to Miss the Book Fair:
1. You can shop from hundreds of quality books in every price range, interest, and reading level, there will be books to interest adults, as well.
2. You will find exclusive, more affordable editions of many of the most popular books sold in retail stores.
3. You will help Marina Village earn books and funds for classrooms and libraries.
4. You will connect with your child's school reading and literacy initiatives.
5. Best of all, you and your child will have fun choosing books together.
During our special “Family Event” on Wednesday, every family who purchases a book can enter to win a $10.00 merchandise coupon. There will be 2 winners chosen on Thursday morning. This is a great opportunity to start or finish your holiday shopping while supporting the school library.
Parents, if for some reason you are not able to attend the Book Fair in person, we encourage you to discuss the Book Fair with your child to determine what books he or she may want to add to their personal collection.
